Young Heroines Save Life of Doylestown Senior
Quick response by two Wesley Enhanced Living at Heritage Towers staff members saves life of a senior resident
PHILADELPHIA, PA October 14, 2009 /Seniors PR News/ -- Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) at Heritage Towers, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Doylestown, honored dining services staff members Hannah Wisler, 18, and Brooke Roche, 20, for their quick thinking that saved the life of resident Dotsie Dillingham.
On August 24, Dotsie began choking in the dining room. The young heroines reacted quickly and Hannah performed the Heimlich Maneuver on Dotsie.
According to Dotsie, Hannah and Brooke showed maturity and wisdom beyond their years in this situation.
"These two young ladies reacted so quickly and professionally, it is scary to think what could have happened if they had not been there for me," she said. "I can't thank them enough!"
In honor of their heroic act, Hannah and Brooke were presented with recognition plaques during a ceremony at WEL at Heritage Towers. Pennsylvania State Representative Marguerite Quinn attended and recognized the young women on behalf of Bucks County and the Commonwealth. In addition, Hannah's Girl Scout Troop is advocating that she receive the Scout Gold Medal Award, the highest honor awarded by the Girls Scouts of America.
Hannah is a student at Pennridge High School and has worked at WEL at Heritage Towers for one and a half years. She plans to attend college next year and concentrate her studies in Nursing. Brooke attends Bucks County Community College and has been a dedicated dining services staff member for nearly two and a half years.
